Taking a Stand

Here's the new trick Parker's been doing lately:

Just today, I put Parker down for a nap. When I checked up on him on the baby monitor, here's what I saw:

This is the first time he's stood up in his crib all by himself... *sigh* And tomorrow? He'll be off to college... Seriously, how is he growing up so fast??

Happy 9 Months!

Parker,

Our little lovey, you are NINE months old! And what a month it has been for you!

Some stats:

You are still in size 3 diapers (and I think you’ll stay in them for another month). For clothes, you are in size 6-9month/ 9 month/ 6-12month, depending on the clothing brand. We won’t find out your height and weight stats until next week,  but I’m guessing you’re in the 18-19 pound range.

The most exciting thing for us is that you’re now sleeping through the night! At the suggestion from friends, we started giving you a new bedtime. You are now in bed by 6:30pm, and you sleep all the way to 5:30- 6:00am! This makes Mommy and Daddy very happy and with you getting more sleep, you are a happier baby in the day! We are so proud of you!

Along with your new sleep schedule, we changed your food schedule; you now eat 5 times a day. Breakfast at 6am, snack at 9am, lunch at 12, snack at 3pm, and dinner at 6pm. This seems to work out really well for you. We started adding yogurt and Puffs to your menu. You love both, and you’ve even started eating the Puffs all by yourself!

Sometimes you get a sippy cup, which you can now drink all by yourself! What a big boy you are now!

You celebrated your first Valentine’s Day this month!

This month, Mommy took a trip to Disneyland, leaving you and Daddy alone for four days. You guys seemed to have a lot of fun together! And though Mommy had fun on her trip, she was VERY happy to come home and see you.

We tried a new carrier, the Ergo. You seem to like it, now that you’re used to it. You learned how to snuggle up to Mommy, and even (almost) fall asleep.

You are scooting around now, like a little worm! You are not quite crawling, but you’re sooo close!

It’s been quite a month. We are so proud of all the ways you are growing and changing. You are developing quite a sense of humor and we love seeing you smile and laugh. You are becoming more adventurous and independent, but you still also love snuggle time with Mommy and Daddy. We love you, little man, and are so thankful God gave us the gift of YOU!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This is a day late, but I still had to post these.

Parker spent most of the day with his Grandma and Grandpa, but I had enough time to snap a few pictures of my little Valentine:

8 Months Old! (3 days late)

8 Months!

It occurred to me just this morning that I didn’t write a blog for Parker’s 8-month birthday!

So, although it’s 3-days late, here we go:

This past month, you’ve brought in the New Year with much joy and cuteness!

You had your first real play date this month with Lillian. You both spent the first hour just staring and smiling at each other:

I think you had a lot of fun spending time with another baby, and you did a great job sharing your toys.

You need help getting to the sitting position, but once you’re there you can sit up a long time by yourself.

After eating time, you like to sit in and play in your chair for a while. You like to play with blocks and your

little monkey puppet

 

And like I said, you’ve spent a lot of time just being cute… *sigh*

You are big enough for a new car seat now!

For just a few days you really liked to stick out your tongue and pant… as if you were acting like a puppy. It was super cute, but I haven’t seen you do it in awhile

You really like looking in the mirror. You look at yourself and give yourself kisses in the mirror

You aren’t crawling yet, but while on your tummy, you can pull and scoot yourself around in a circle.

You love, love, LOVE Jack. You smile every time he comes by you and you enjoy getting kisses from him as much as he enjoys giving them.

You continue to be a great eater! You are eating pureed meats, fruits and veggies every day. You've liked everything so far except... green beans.

Also this month... your first time sitting in the shopping cart--what a big boy! Your first store was Trader Joe's, then later on we went to Target. For the most part you LOVED it. You really enjoyed looking all around, and when you did get a bit fussy, you liked that Mommy could easily scoop you up in her arms!

It's been a great month that's gone by too fast. You teach us so much each day and we thank God each day for giving us the gift of YOU.

January Stats

A few weeks ago, Parker had an appointment at the WIC office. (For more information about WIC, go here). At just over seven months old, he weighed 16 1/4lbs,  and is 26 3/4inches. 

 Here's a few things Parker's been up to this month...

After he's done eating, he will often play with his blocks:

No crawling yet. But he likes to push himself up on his arms.

His new favorite thing to do is look at himself in the mirror. He will smile and talk to himself, and the cutest thing... he gives himself kisses--it's adorable!
